Why we started this
The internet is full of "deals" that aren't. A strike-through price no one ever paid. A countdown clock that resets when you reload the page. A coupon site that takes credit for a discount that was already public. We'd spent years working in editorial and content, and we got tired of watching readers get nudged into "saving" money on prices that were quietly inflated in the first place.
So in early 2026 we started Wow Discounts: a small, independent blog about shopping smarter. Our whole job is to answer one unglamorous question before you click buy — is this actually a good price? Sometimes the answer is yes, and we'll show you where. Often the answer is "wait two weeks," and we'll tell you that too.
The Wow Discounts team
We're a small team based in New York. Between us we cover the everyday side of shopping — the carts, the checkout pages, the seasonal sales, and the price-tracking tools that tell you whether a discount is real:
- Deal research — sourcing offers, pulling price histories, and checking whether a "sale" is a sale.
- Writing & editing — turning what we find into plain-English guidance you can actually use.
- Fact-checking — every published piece gets read by at least one person who didn't write it.
We don't put individual names on every byline because the work is collaborative. When one of us flags a deal, the others ask the obvious questions: What did this cost last month? Is it really in stock at that price? Would you tell a friend to buy it? Those answers are the article.
What we cover
Our beat is everyday shopping and saving:
- Shopping guides — how to save on the big online retailers, and how to time a purchase to the calendar.
- Deal literacy — the pricing tricks stores use, and how to see straight through them.
- Money-saving tools — cashback portals, coupon extensions, and price trackers, rated honestly.
- Buying calendars — when prices on categories like TVs, mattresses, and appliances actually drop.
We don't do breathless "best deal ever" roundups, and we don't chase every flash sale. If something is only a so-so deal, we'll say so.
Editorial independence
This is where we want to be plainly honest with you, because it matters:
- We have never published a paid placement dressed up as advice, and we don't plan to.
- No brand or retailer has approval rights over our copy.
- We sometimes earn a commission when a reader clicks a link and buys something. That commission does not change the price you pay, and it does not decide what we recommend. We've flagged great prices at stores that pay us nothing, and we've warned readers off "deals" from programs that pay generously.
For the full picture, see our affiliate disclosure and editorial standards. They're the most-read pages on this site for a reason.
How we vet a deal
Every deal we feature has to clear a process: we check its price history, confirm it's in stock at the advertised price, and make sure the discount is real rather than a return to the usual price. We've written that process up in detail — see How we find and verify the deals we feature.
How to reach us
If you've spotted a genuinely good deal, found a price we got wrong, or want us to look into something, the best way is the contact form or an email to support@wow-discounts.com. We read everything, even if we can't always reply quickly.
Thanks for being here.
